June is a very special month for Jakarta, as Indonesia’s busiest city celebrates its 497th anniversary on June 22, 2025. To mark the occasion, the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI) has prepared a series of festive events.
In fact, the celebration series for Jakarta’s 497th anniversary has been running since May 2025 and will continue through July 2025. However, the highlight of the celebration takes place in June — Jakarta’s birth month — with events held across various iconic locations throughout the city.
The festivities include a wide range of events, from cultural and arts festivals, historical and sports exhibitions, and affordable bazaars to, of course, music performances that Jakarta residents are sure to enjoy.
Jakarta’s 498th Anniversary Tagline and Logo
This year, the official tagline chosen by Jakarta to celebrate its anniversary is “JAKARTA: A GLOBAL AND CULTURED CITY.”The tagline reflects the spirit of celebration and Jakarta’s ongoing commitment to grow and fulfill its vision as a city of the future.
The logo for Jakarta’s 498th anniversary combines various elements—colors, patterns, and iconic Jakarta symbols—to express the city’s identity as both global and cultured. The design conveys a sense of modernity, festivity, and an unmistakable Jakarta vibe.
The typography of the number “498” is also thoughtfully designed. The numbers are seamlessly connected, symbolizing the strong spirit of collaboration among Jakarta’s citizens as they work together to build a global city.
Meanwhile, the use of vibrant colors combined with abstract patterns reflects the rich diversity of Jakarta’s people—full of life, culture, and dreams.
